Position: Sound Designer
My concept for this show was to enhance the moving and influential story that this production followed while still maintaining periodical and conceptual accuracy. To do this, I researched the script’s given circumstances and the director’s concept, and researched things such as music commonly played in this period (1890s), means of transportation, and communication (school bells, whistles, etc). I also intended to keep the aural placement as accurate as possible. To achieve this, I rerouted the auditorium’s Dante send to control the different monitors and speakers in the space and strategically sent the various sound effects to their corresponding monitors/speakers, which depended on the blocking of the scene or the location the characters were referring to.
Sound Sample
This is a sound effect of a tuning piano. I used this for a scene change into the wedding. Starting this scene change at the end of the previous stage in a stage monitor, and as the scene ended, the sound moved into the house speakers and faded to the Wedding March.
